Description
The HUBZone program was created to help small businesses in Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone) increase their access to federal contracting opportunities. In order to become certified, businesses must meet criteria, including being located in a HUBZone and having at least 35% of their employees reside in a HUBZone. Once certified, businesses are eligible to compete for the program’s set-aside contracts, as well as receive a 10% price evaluation preference in full and open contract competitions.
Additionally, HUBZone-certified businesses can still compete for contract awards under other socio-economic set-asides. Unless previously awarded the HUBZone Certification under the Ten-Year Rule, companies who certify as HUBZone, must recertify every three years. (If you have a 10 year commercial lease, or purchased in a HUBZone, you qualify for the Ten-Year Rule.)
